OC San is currently looking to fill the role of a Senior Mechanic.
Under direct or general supervision or direction, performs technical duties and responsibilities in the maintenance, repair, service, and troubleshooting of equipment and machinery in wastewater treatment plants, pumping stations, and related facilities; performs preventive and corrective maintenance on assigned plant equipment and machinery; operates and maintains a variety of hand and power tools and equipment.
Specifically, this person will be able to work independently; communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing; adhere to established policies and procedures; perform technical tasks utilizing specialized industry techniques and tools (e.g. calipers, verniers, micrometers, torque wrenches) relative to the assigned area of responsibility; and establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted during work. This person will be part of a team that performs high-precision millwright craftsmanship work quality.

OC San is seeking qualified candidates for the Senior Mechanic position. Depending on qualifications and experience, candidates who are not selected for Senior Mechanic in the interview process may be referred to an eligibility list for a lower level position (Maintenance Worker or Mechanic). Referred candidates must be successful in an interview process for the applicable position to be placed on the lower level eligibility list.

Hiring Salary Range: $39.25 - $43.28/Hour
(starting salary will be within this range based upon qualifications)
Must possess mobility to work in the field; ability to operate a motor vehicle to travel to various District sites, projects and/or meetings; strength, stamina and mobility to perform moderate to heavy physical work, to work in confined spaces, around machines and to climb and descend ladders, and operate varied hand and power tools and construction equipment; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone or radio. The job involves fieldwork requiring frequent walking in operational areas to identify problems or hazards. Finger dexterity is needed to access, enter and retrieve data using a computer keyboard or calculator and to operate above-mentioned tools and equipment. Positions in this classification bend, stoop, kneel, reach and climb to perform work and inspect work sites. Employees must possess the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and objects weighing up to 40 pounds, or heavier weights with the use of proper equipment.
Employees work in the field and are exposed to loud noise levels, cold and hot temperatures, inclement weather conditions, road hazards, vibration, confining workspace, chemicals, mechanical and/or electrical hazards, and hazardous physical substances and fumes. Employees may interact with upset staff and/or public and private representatives, and contractors in interpreting and enforcing departmental policies and procedures.
Disaster Service Workers
All OC San employees are designated Disaster Service Workers through state law (California Government Code Section 3100-3109). Employment with the OC San requires the affirmation of a loyalty oath to this effect. Employees are required to complete all related training as assigned, and to return to work as ordered in the event of an emergency.
