Arena Stage was founded August 16, 1950 in Washington, D.C. by Zelda Fichandler, Tom Fichandler and Edward Mangum. JOB DESCRIPTION

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Receptionist will attend to visitors and deal with inquiries on the phone and face to face; supply information regarding the organization to patrons and the general public; answer incoming calls on the switchboard and direct calls to appropriate staff/department, including paging staff and screening calls when necessary as well as answering stage door intercom; monitor security cameras and door access alarms; and complete administrative tasks as assigned.    

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Monitor administrative entrance to the building to ensure all personnel have authorization to enter
  • Receive visitors and inform staff of their arrival
  • Receive and sign for small deliveries, notify appropriate staff member of large deliveries
  • Monitor presence of staff in building as much as possible; assist callers in locating staff.
  • Monitor the general appearance of the stage door area, including periodic reminders to staff about unclaimed deliveries
  • Answer telephone, screen and direct calls
  • Take and relay messages
  • Provide information to callers
  • Address queries from the public
  • General administrative and clerical support
  • Data Entry

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school graduate or 1-2 years front desk experience
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Understanding of administrative and clerical procedures
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat
  • Exceptional customer service principles and practices
  • Knowledge of theater a plus
