Full-time Reliability Technician

Job Description

Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) is a multidisciplinary research institution engaged in science and engineering on behalf of national security. We are seeking a Reliability Technologist to join The Process Maintenance & Decontamination Services group at LANL in Los Alamos, NM. In this position, you will perform maintenance on both programmatic equipment and glovebox support systems, ensuring that all program deliverables are met.



·       Plan through Reliability-centered Maintenance, execute through High Precision Maintenance and sustain through Reliability Engineering

·       Provide fact-based, solution-driven resolutions to manufacturing problems after thorough investigation and research

·       Gather data for analysis designed to provide the logical elimination of causal factors

·       Support the implementation and sustainment of Reliability-centered Maintenance strategies

·       Participate in Failure Mode, Effects Analysis and Root Cause Analysis to develop equipment maintenance strategies

·       Analyze equipment at End of Life and End of Service Life/Support to accurately calculate forecasted funding and timelines for future projects designed to replace aging or obsolete assets and ensure new equipment is maintained



·       Bachelor's Degree in Engineering Technology, Science, Math or related field from an accredited institution

·       2+ years related experience

·       Ability to read and understand detailed technical instructions, follow precise procedures and execute repetitive work

·       Experience gathering data for further analysis, demonstrating good judgment in determining approaches to problems, identifying, researching, and selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions

·       Experience working on a variety of components and equipment in maintenance-related situations, including testing, troubleshooting, repairing and replacing

·       Understanding of P&IDs, layouts, floor plans, drawings and other related visual planning tools and preparing, reviewing and documenting technical information

·       Ability to utilize a computer systems to prepare and input data, as well as develop computerized solutions to technical problems

·       Expert knowledge of FMEAs, RCAs, equipment maintenance strategies, asset criticality analysis and lifecycle cost analysis

·       Experience developing studies to formulate, determine and evaluate design and operational criteria for structures, systems and equipment


Preferred Qualifications:

·       Q-Clearance and HRP-Certification

·       Experience working on a diverse, motivated, cross-functional team dedicated to a vision and plan of action

·       Understanding of Lean Six Sigma tools, techniques and methodologies (strategic gap analysis, lean, design for six sigma, Kaizen event, etc.)

·       Experience accurately documenting work activities utilizing a variety of computer applications and Computerized Maintenance Management Systems
