Job Description

The incumbent leads the site maintenance, calibration, asset management and facility infrastructure groups involving the operation, reconfiguration, construction or maintenance of company buildings, structures or equipment. Responsible for maintenance strategies and implementation of CAPAs and large scale expense/repair projects in line with the strategic plan of the site. Develops execution strategy, master schedules and spending schedules. Develops and manages multiple external contracts or hires and directs technical staff to perform required services. Through sound leadership principles, incumbent must ensure a high customer service level, fiscal responsibility, ethical compliance and continuous site operation. Implements metrics and lean manufacturing concepts critical to ensuring fiscal responsibility as well as continuous improvement within the maintenance and calibration organization.  Duties & Responsibilities

  • Ensures all personnel are managed and directed as necessary with a strong commitment to resolving issues and problems 24-7.
  • Develops coverage and accountability where needed and takes responsibility for addressing issues regardless of when they occur.
  • Develops department objectives and sets service-level standards for/with department managers and direct reports.
  • Operation and reliability of mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Oversees technical support of engineering and Operations on processes and utilities within on campus.
  • Responsible for oversight of the vendor relationship and performance for the site IFM provider.
  • Responsible for design activities directed at maintaining compliance with all regulatory agencies (FDA, EU, APHIS, EPA, OSHA).
  • Ensures compliance with local, state, federal, and international codes and regulations.
  • Expense budget management to include developing, editing and reviewing financial for the site.
  • Manage contracts for various contractors and consulting companies, ensures adequate reviews architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, HVAC and equipment drawings for conformance to design specifications where necessary for engineering efforts.
  • Timely major infrastructure improvement projects to include monitoring and measuring equipment installed.
  • Sets strategic direction for energy use and conservation.
  • Establishes design requirements for energy efficient equipment and systems and measures via metrics continuous improvement.
  • Advanced technical oversight:
  • Responsible for ensuring continuous improvement in internal processes and equipment reliability.
  • Management oversight:
  • Leads the Maintenance, Calibration, and Infrastructure functions within the Vaccine Manufacturing organization.
  • Ensures deliverables meet internal standards, contract terms, budget and schedule.
  • Communicates updates to the relevant teams and steering committee at predefined milestones and at defined intervals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in engineering, project management, business administration or related field and a minimum of ten (10) years related experience in production or similar environment.
  • Experience must be inclusive of a minimum of five (5) years of leadership experience to include leading people, projects and leaders.
  • Must have general knowledge of bio-pharmaceutical processes and equipment.
  • Must have knowledge of Maintenance best practices, including but not limited to planning and scheduling, reliability centered maintenance, TPM, CMMS.
  • Must have strong understanding of project and facilities management economics, contracts, and applicable accounting requirements.
  • Must have well-developed interpersonal skills with the ability to establish highly functional relationships with diverse personalities both within and outside the company.
  • Intermediate MS Outlook, Work, Excel, MS Project and SAP skills.
  • Highly regulated (FDA, DEA, EMEA, and EPA). Significant technical/operational risk due to increasing legal and regulatory complexity.
