About Institute for Defense Analyses
IDA (Institute for Defense Analyses) – a not-for-profit corporation headquartered in Alexandria, Virginia just outside Washington, DC – operates three Federally Funded Research and Development Centers (FFRDCs) in the public interest. IDA exists to promote national security, preserve the public welfare, and advance scientific learning by analyzing, evaluating, and reporting on matters of interest to the United States Government.
IDA research applies hard science to the hardest problems. Our studies are credible, rigorously peer-reviewed – and frequently put to use by top government decision-makers immediately upon release We seek a variety of disciplines including computer science, information technology, mathematics, chemistry, physics, operations research, aero/astronautical engineering (electrical, mechanical, nuclear, computer), materials science, statistics, economics, as well as social and behavioral sciences.
