The primary purpose of this position is to enhance Water Management Department’s stewardship of the City’s water and wastewater assets by leading initiatives to increase asset reliability and providing engineering support to preventive maintenance activities. Manage predictive maintenance program including thermal scanning, ultrasonic, tribology, and vibration analysis to be performed by department personnel or contractors. Perform engineering evaluations of available predictive maintenance systems. Select and procure predictive maintenance systems that best meet the needs of the department. Coordinate predictive maintenance training for maintenance personnel. Prioritize predictive maintenance activities to ensure available resources applied based on system and equipment criticality. Integrate recurring predictive maintenance activities into CMMS. Lead and supervise 2 predictive maintenance technicians in the planning, scheduling and execution of preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance activities on mechanical, electrical and process systems. Provide leadership and technical direction to department staff performing preventive and predictive maintenance. Develop and integrate world class asset management strategies into water management department maintenance program, including root cause failure analysis (RCFA), preventive maintenance optimization and continuous improvement, reliability, availability and maintainability analysis (RAM). Apply engineering principles to solve equipment, system and process problems. Perform engineering calculations to verify correct sizing and capacity of equipment and systems. Read and interpret regulatory and engineering codes and standards. Support the continued development of preventive maintenance (PM) standards for department assets. Develop designs for repair projects and manage construction projects with AutoCAD and project management software. Minimum Qualifications & Experience Minimum 5 years of maintenance, plant, or reliability engineering experience in a continuous manufacturing environment BS in Mechanical, Industrial, or Electrical Engineering Valid, unrestricted NC Class C Driver’s License or if out of state, the ability to obtain a NC license within 6 months Additional Preferred Skills Proven history of continuous improvement accomplishments Experience with AutoCAD and project management software Working knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems, root cause analysis, predictive and preventive maintenance systems.
